The west-facing entrance of Nottingham Castle. After the old castle was demolished, this ducal mansion later occupied the castle's site. This was burned down by rioters from Nottingham's slums in 1831 and left as a ruin, later restored as an art gallery and museum in 1875, which remains in use today.
