Wat Suthat was begun by king Rama I (r. 1782-1809), founder of the Chakri dynasty, soon after his coronation. It was continued by his son Rama II (r. 1809-24) and completed by his grandson Rama III (r. 1824-51). It is one of Bangkok's oldest and most revered temples. |
