| The landmark of Baku's Old City, next to its main southern gate, is the Maiden Tower. Dating from 12th century, the cylindrically-shaped tower was constructed on a ledge, at the time jutting into the Caspian Sea (no longer due to land reclamation). Today it is a historical museum. |
