The famous Mount Rum, in Wadi Rum (Arabic for "Sand Valley"), stands at 1,734m above sea level. The mountain was named the Seven Pillars of Wisdom (from its shape as seven pillars) by Lawrence of Arabia in his 1922 autobiography.
