| Wellington Arch was built as a memorial to the "Iron" Duke of Wellington (who defeated the French emperor Napoleon I in Spain in 1813 and again in the 1815 Battle of Waterloo) Arthur Wellesley, located at the roundabout reserve at Hyde Park Corner, erected between 1828-30. |
