| Ahead lies the glittering blue ice of Risting Glacier, 8km long, flowing southeast into the head of Drygalski Fjord. Approximately 15,000-20,000 years ago, a very large ice cap covered South Georgia: this glacier carved out a U-shaped valley still visible today at the head of the fjord. |
