| The heart of the Deira district in Dubai is Baniyas Square (also known locally as al-Nasr Square, after the former Egyptian president Nasser). It was the core of the city, back when the Deira Clocktower marked its eastern edge, until construction of the towering skylines nearby in the 1970s. |
