| The Ketchaoua mosque in the Casbah had been standing for over 200 years before the French converted it into the Cathedral of St. Philippe in 1845; French emperor Napoloen III took mass on its opening in 1860. It was converted back into a mosque in 1962, precisely 102 years later. |
