| The freshwater Lake Toftir, at the southern point of the island of Eysteroy, located in the highlands between the villages of Runavík and Rituvík. The lake is noted for its rich bird life, and legend tells of Nykin (a water elf), who lived in the lake, with the form of a handsome young man luring people into it on misty evenings; to touch him was to drown. |
