| A basalt obelisk erected in 1882 to commemorate the visit of king Christian IX of Demnark to the Faroe Islands in 1874, the first from a Danish monarch. Tórshavn's mayor fainted during his welcome speech and died in front of the crowd, including the king; it is said he supported the mayor's widow financially for the rest of her life.
