| Vilnius was founded on 48m-high Gediminas Hill, just behind the Vilnius Cathedral, previously the site of the Upper Castle built in the 13th century; the tower is all that remains of the complex since its abandonment in the 17th century. The hill also offers an impressive panorama of Senamiestis. |
