| Further inland on Montenegro's Adriatic coast, guarding the entrance to the Bay of Kotor, lies Herceg Novi, originally founded as a fortress in 1382. Standing at the foot of Mount Orjen, it was constantly fought over and has a long history of foreign rulers and annexations, restored to Montenegro only in WWI. |
