Another ancient Roman site off Central Square is the Odeon ruin, built between the 2nd-5th centuries as the Ancient Theatre of Philippoupolis (Plovdiv's Greek name), seating 350. It opened in 2004, but excavations and partial rebuilding are ongoing.
