| In the old town lies a near-complete restored Roman-era amphitheatre, uncovered in 1972 by a freak landslide. Built during the reign of emperor Trajan in the 2nd century AD, it seats up to 6,000 people and is the largest surviving Roman structure in Bulgaria. |
