| About 2km north of Akraberg is the southernmost settlement in the Faroe Islands: the town of Sumba, with a population of around 250, and is apparently one of the oldest villages in the southern Faroes, dating from the 7th century. The islet of Sumbiarhólmur and the Atlantic Ocean lie to the west, and in the far distance are the flat-topped sea cliffs of Beinisvørð. |
